How It Works

Drive My Dog’s fees are based on distance, route, and whether the journey is shared or private. All quotes include door-to-door service, secure travel, comfort breaks, and journey updates, with ferry, toll, and border fees included where needed.

Payment is split into a deposit to secure your booking and the balance due before travel. Payments are accepted by bank transfer, PayPal, or major debit/credit cards. You’ll receive an invoice with clear payment instructions and deadlines, and flexible rescheduling or cancellation terms are provided in your booking confirmation. Fees are transparent with no hidden charges

STEP ONE

Booking your dog’s journey

Getting your dog from A to B safely starts with a simple enquiry form or message. You share a few key details: where your dog is travelling from and to, preferred dates, size and breed, and any special requirements such as medication or nervous behaviour. Once received, a tailored quote is prepared based on distance, route, and whether the journey is shared or private. After you confirm you’re happy to go ahead, your booking is secured with a deposit and a confirmation email or message summarising everything.

STEP two

Before we set off

Ahead of travel, you receive a clear checklist of what your dog needs for the journey: microchip, passport or AHC where required, vaccines, parasite treatments, and any customs paperwork for UK–EU or EU–UK trips. You are asked to pack familiar items such as your dog’s usual food, a blanket that smells like home, and any harness or medication they use daily. The collection time window is agreed in advance, and you are given the driver’s details so you know exactly who will be arriving to meet your dog.

STEP THREE

Collection on the day

On travel day, your driver arrives at the agreed address, introduces themselves, and spends a few moments letting your dog say hello and settle. Identification, paperwork, and any special instructions are checked with you before your dog is loaded. Your dog is then secured in an individual, appropriately sized crate or harnessed travel space, with fresh bedding and water ready for the journey. Once everything is safely set, you receive a quick update so you know your dog is on board and on the way.

STEP Four

On the road with Drive My Dog

During the journey, your dog travels in a professionally fitted, ventilated vehicle designed for animal transport, with secure cages or crash-tested equipment where required. Regular comfort breaks are scheduled along the route so dogs can stretch their legs, go to the toilet, and have a drink in safe, controlled areas away from traffic. Throughout the trip, your dog is monitored, and the temperature is managed to keep them comfortable in both warm and cold weather. For longer routes, updates are sent via message, live location sharing, photos, or short videos so you can follow your dog’s progress in real time.

STEP FIVE

Arrival and handover

On approach to the destination, you are given an updated estimated arrival time so you can be ready to welcome your dog. At drop-off, your dog is carefully unloaded and given a moment to settle before handover. The driver runs through how your dog has travelled, when they last ate, drank, and had a comfort break, and passes back any leads, paperwork, and belongings. Once you are reunited, the journey is marked complete, and you have the chance to share feedback or a review to help other owners feel confident choosing Drive My Dog.
